Rafting
Rivers are classified according to its degree of difficulty, going from I to VI. Degree VI is unnavigable for the boats that are used to practice rafting, while Degree I rivers are the calmest.
In general, the rafts have capacity for 10 persons plus the rafting guide, who is the person in charge of giving the instructions for the navigation and the one who knows the region.

Places to practice rafting:
River Manso has a glacier origin and springs up in Mount Tronador. Its waters travel through lakes Mascardi, Los Moscos, Hess and Steffen and the river is divided into three sections: superior, middle section and lower. It travels through beautiful and incomparable Andean-Patagonian forests and all the exuberance of Valdivia forest.

Duckies
During the last years and all over the world, Navigation in duckies or inflatable kayaks has become a growing activity. To a great extent, its success is due to the fact that, being a secure and stable boat, it is very easy and fast to learn. You can make trips in double kayaks guided by an instructor.

River kayak
Among all the river sports, this is the most daring one, because the ones who practice it must face alone the different obstacles that the river presents. Horse Riding
The horses advance deep among the hills to enjoy the calmness of the Steppe or the Mountain range. The horses used are trained to go through all types of grounds.
The trips are guided by local experts. During the trips, you will see hares, red foxes, deers and various species of birds: ducks, black-chested buzzard-eagles, condors, etc.

Canyoning
This is a new trend in adventure tourism. It consists of a descent in rivers, water cannons and steep riverbanks, following the course of a river thanks to the combination of different disciplines as walking, climbing and swimming.
It can include dives from natural springboards to deep parts, walks through stones, rappelling in waterfalls and Tyrolean.

Canopy
Canopy Patagonia
In the Andean-Patagonian forest, a new activity of Adventure Tourism appears, known as Canopy.
Canopy is basically a trip through the top of the trees through Tyrolean, suspension bridges and rappels. It is practiced in small groups with safety equipment that includes harnesses, helmets, gloves and pulleys. The groups are led by expert guides that offer the optimum safety conditions.

The circuit consists of 1000 m distance, two rappels, a suspension bridge and eight concentric platforms, which are bound together through a double steel wire Tyrolean system.

It is an activity that brings us closer to the great biodiversity of our Andean Patagonian forest. It offers the opportunity to fly, sharing the feeling of birds, enjoying with your family a safe and different adventure. Canopy Patagonia is located in the Short Circuit, at 14 miles from the city center, in the “SAFARILAND” premises.

Canopy Adventure Tour
A circuit of 1500 m to travel through the air, hanging from a harness, enjoying the landscape in a different way. You also have the night version. It is located in mount López, inside the Short Circuit. This is an adventure tourism outing for the whole family, and proposes another way of rediscovering and valuing the forest, offering the incredible sensation of “flying” through it, contemplating amazing landscapes that would be impossible to enjoy in the plains.

Because of this, in a short time, it has turned into one of the most popular activities; it combines adrenalin with beauty and fun.

Paragliding
You ascend to a place of considerable height from where you start the descent in the paraglider. These are two-seater flights; you go with an instructor or expert pilot.

The weather is a continuous pressure for paragliders because of its variability and the winds must be less than 30 km/h.

This is an activity that joins adventure with the landscape, since from the heights you will enjoy the best panoramic views of the area.

It is also an activity suitable for all ages and it is practised during all the year. For those persons that are interested in this activity, there are introductory training courses with theoretical and practical contents.

Trekking and Hiking
The surroundings of San Carlos de Bariloche, in National Park Nahuel Huapi, are ideal for the development of this activity.

Its main objective is to find hidden landscapes, viewpoints and other inaccessible places to get by car, to enjoy nature to the full. You can walk among the mountains, make walks to shelters, and longer trips with camps.
The area counts with mountain huts, log cabin constructions with certain basic and essential amenities: bedrooms, kitchen, lounge-dining room and bathrooms. You get to these cabins through paths surrounded by woods and mountains.

Presently, there are seven mountain huts in operation, each one with special characteristics and with different degrees of difficulty as to its accessibility.

Ice Climbing
In Bariloche you can take courses on Ice Climbing that, in general, last 10 days and include the instructor, theoretical notes and are given in February.

For people with experience, the climbing is to Pico Argentino, in Mount Tronador, lasting 3 days and including the expert guide, personal and general technical equipment; between December and March, according to the weather conditions.

4x4 Trips
It’s about trips in modern and resistant double drive vehicles by gravel and mountain roads. Among other places, you visit Mount López and Lake Steffen.

Mount López
Before climbing the mount, you ride 27 miles passing Balcón del Moreno and the historic Colonia Suiza (Swiss Colony). The last miles belong to the climbing itself, among aged coihues and lengas trees. At 1500 masl, you descend from the vehicle to start the long walk to the Shelter, located at 1650 masl among great panoramic views. For the ones who want to continue with the walk, still in summer, you can get to the snow covered spots.

Snow & Ski
Thanks to the wide variety of landscapes that Bariloche offers, the winter season allows choosing among games in the snow, alpine skiing, ski touring, ridings in snow cats, ridings in sleighs, snowboarding, paragliding, etc.; and other activities such as trekking and horse rides in the low areas of the region.

Mount Catedral
The area of Mount Catedral has as the main attraction the Mountain Sports Dr. Antonio Lynch, located in the beautiful region of National Park Nahuel Huapi, adjacent to the municipal common land of San Carlos de Bariloche.
It is located at 1075 miles from Capital Federal by paved route or two hours flight. The international airport of Bariloche is at 10 miles from the city and at 19 miles from the ski resort.

The maximum height of the mount is 2,388 meters above sea level, 1483 acres of hillsides suitable for skiing with more than 64 miles of ski runs for all the levels.

This winter sports centre is undergoing a full process of modernization, incorporating in each season new infrastructure. It has state-of-the-art ski lifts: the chair lift for six persons with bubble gives high comfort and climatic protection, making it possible to use it any time. Apart from this, now it is possible to make snow. This incredible innovation makes it possible to have a layer of snow in the main areas of the mountain, even when the snowfalls are not abundant. Highly sophisticated equipments supply snow and guarantee the practice of ski, especially in the areas for beginners that can not venture to more difficult ski runs.

In this sense, there have been advances to count with a minimum layer of snow in the Catalina Reynal Square, in the base of the mountain, in the place where the ski and snowboard schools are, the shops to rent equipments, restaurants, mountain huts and the big shopping mall; all situated next to the departure stations of the ski lifts.
Mount Catedral, in close relation with the winter sports, is a permanent venue of very important sport, social and cultural events, among them international ski and snowboard competitions, included in the calendar of the International Ski Federation. Other annual event is the opening season ceremony and the making of other different ceremonies of the Snow National Festival.

There are varied entertaining activities such as the casino, slot machines for children, music festivals and shows for example polo and snow voleyball.

Among other options, several mountainous spaces add up new ways of amusement, for example driving a fourtrax, trekking through the snow-covered paths, sliding through sleds or practicing paragliding or snowboard.

Piedras Blancas (White Rocks)
The winter complex Piedras Blancas is located over the south hillside of Mount Otto, at a few miles from the city center. This typical mountain enclave offers the visitors different possibilities for fun and amusement. Among other activities, you can use sleds in the enabled runs to that end, ride in snowmobile or directly climb up to the shelter and enjoy a comforting hot milk with pieces of chocolate with a slice of a homemade cake.

Cross-country Ski Center
In Mount Otto and at a few meters from Piedras Blancas, the Cross-country Ski Center is located, a place with runs especially designed for the practice of cross-country skiing. The rides in snowmobile are part of the tourist offer that this place offers.

Neumeyer Shelter
At 10 miles from the city and after traveling through the Chall Huaco valley you get to the Neumeyer Shelter, located at 1,200 m above sea level. From there on you can go for a walk with snowshoes that goes from the shelter to pool Verde or to a spectacular viewpoint located at the top of the Valley. You can also practice ski touring and sleighs.

International crossing of Lakes
The crossing starts sailing through Lake Nahuel Huapi up to Puerto Blest in National Park Nahuel Huapi.
Then you go by 2 miles by bus up to Puerto Alegre and then sail through Lake Frías up to Puerto Frías where you will have to do the migration procedure and then go through customs.

Short Circuit
The beauty of the landscape is always present in this tour, hugging the south shore of the lake Nahuel Huapi, especially from the natural viewpoints of Bahía López or the Viewpoint, places where even the most experienced observer can feel simply small. Among the most outstanding attractions that this peculiar trip offers, it is worth mentioning the traditional Llao Llao hotel, Puerto Pañuelo, which is the most important port of Lake Nahuel Huapi and San Eduardo chapel; the surroundings give a stunning panoramic view of mounts Tronador and López. Besides, the chapel has in its interior a work of art by the famous painter Raúl Soldi.

At 10 miles from the center of Bariloche, mount Campanario is found, and you can climb it by a chairlift. From the viewpoint and the cafeteria which is located on the summit, you get an incredible general view of the area. There are many tea houses and restaurants that add flavour to the trip with tasty morsels that will delight your palate.

The short circuit, besides being a beautiful landscape, it offers: knitted material, candles and all types of handicrafts. Also the smooth paths of Llano Park give the possibility to walk around through the woods.

Seven Lakes (Siete Lagos)
By national route 237 going to the North, skirting round Nahuel Huapi Lake, you get to Villa La Angostura, from where the trip continues through the “Route of the Seven Lakes”. There you will admire the series of lakes: Espejo, Correntoso, Escondido, Villarino, Falkner and Machónico up to Lacar Lake, where the city San Martín de los Andres is situated.

Here you can visit the tourist development Chapelco, Quila Quina and Catrite beaches and the Arrayanes circuit from where you get a beautiful view of the lake and city.

The return is by Lake Meliquina, Cordoba pass and skirting round river Traful up to its confluence with river Limay, where Valle Encantado (Enchanted Valley) is situated.

Mount Tronador and Alerces Waterfall
At 22 miles to the south, through national route 258, after skirting round lakes Gutiérrez and Mascardi, to the west begins a road that takes you to the bridge over river Manso. Following the same road up to the base of mount Tronador and going through Pampa Linda, you get to the glacier viewpoint that gives birth to river Manso, known as the “Ventisquero Negro” (Black Snowdrift).

The Alerces waterfall is a variant of this trip. On the same latitude as the bridge over river Manso, you have to take the road that skirts round Lake Los Moscos up to Lake Hess.
Further on, the road for vehicles ends and a path starts to go on foot up to the viewpoint of the Alerces waterfall.

El Bolsón and Lake Puelo
Traveling to the south and after 80 miles, you get to the city of El Bolsón. The route, completely asphalted, borders lakes Gutiérrez, Mascardi and Guillermo, crosses rivers Villegas, Foyel and after the Quemquentreu enters the city.

On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays you can visit the craft fair and the small farms that produce fine fruits and jellies. The cheeses and craft beer are very famous.

At 4 miles, Cabeza de Indio and the viewpoint Río Azul offer a breathless vista of one of the most beautiful landscapes of the place.

From El Bolsón, you can visit National Park Lago Puelo and El Maitén station, from where "La Trochita" departs, an old steam train that now is a tourist relic.

Villa la Angostura
Going to the east, after crossing river Limay, take the detour to Villa la Angostura. Going past Huemul channel and Manzano Bay, the cypress forest appears and slowly gives way to the humid forest.

Once in Villa La Angostura, over the north coast of Lake Nahuel Huapi, you can visit port El Messidor, pool Selva Triste and the chapel La Asunción.

Going on with the trip and going back to Bariloche, you can climb up mount Bayo, which is the ski resort of the Villa.

Big Circuit
Going to the northeast, you skirt round Limay river up to the Anfiteatro (Amphitheater), Valle Encantado (enchanted valley) and after bordering rivers Traful, Cuyín Manzano and Minero, you get to the viewpoint of lake Traful.

Further on, and bordering rivers Cuyín Manzano and Minero, and through the cohiue forest, you get to the viewpoint of Lake Traful, a steep of more than 70 meters height and then you get to Villa Traful.

Going on with the trip, you get to port Arrayán, the Portezuelo and return by the Road of the Seven Lakes and Villa La Angostura.

Mount Otto
In this mount, that is a few miles away from the city, the winter complex Piedras Blancas is located, as well as the ski runs of the Cross-country Ski Center, the Berghoff shelter and the Otto Meiling museum.

In its summit, you will find the famous Confitería Giratoria (revolving coffee shop), the only one in the country, and you can get there though a modern cableway.

Fishing
National Park Nahuel Huapi has an important basin of lakes and rivers, with easy-access coasts and specially suitable for the reproduction and diffusion of fish species of great sport value.

Among the most abundant species, the Rainbow Trout is placed before and after the rapids looking in general for fast and crystal-clear waters, while the Brown Trout is found in almost every river and lakes of the area.
The Brook Trout, the Trout Perch (Trucha Criolla), the Landlocked Salmon will one day turn into a target for sport fishing, free or programmed, under the techniques of: spinning, fly casting and trolling. Obviously, the most difficult technique is fly casting, which offers the best prospects to the fish and requires the maximum skill of the fly-fisherman.

Among the most suitable and sought-after spaces for the practice of this sport, you will find lake Nahuel Huapi and its system of rivers and streams, the river mouth of river Limay where the Rainbow and Brown trout predominate and the systems of rivers Manso and Traful, widely known as the best salmon rivers of the region.

In lakes Mascardi, Fonck, Hess, Roca and Los Moscos, you find the best species of Rainbow, Brown and Brook trout.
