Golf |
Chapelco Golf & Resort
This is a residential and sport complex situated in the surroundings of San Martín de los Andes city, in the Patagonia, whose design was aimed to make the most of the unevenness and the panoramic views of the landscape..
This resort counts with a golf club which presents the first golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus y Jack Nicklaus II in South America, a five-star hotel and a Fishing Club House over the river Quilquihue. Trekking, mountain bike, fly fishing, horse rides, kayak, ski, surrounded by beautiful lakes.
Chapelco Golf Club was built under the USGA norms: it counts with 73 tees and 65 sand traps. |

Tourism in the area |
Civic Center
San Martín square is the historical core of the city. Civic events are carried out here and other events such as the “Trabún” celebration, which gathers musicians and other artists every year in December.
All year long, you will find the local crafts fair and an area devoted to the sale of selected berries, jams, preserved fruits, dry flowers, etc.
Museo Municipal Primeros Pobladores (Museum of the First Settlers)
This is a simple building which was initially built to function as the Public Works and Building Committee of San Martín de los Andes. In 1959 the building was moved to a municipal lot. In 1984, it was relocated in its original place in order to be used as a museum.
Lacar Lake
Of glacier origin, this water mirror extends to the west forming the Monthué Lake, which is a natural extension of Lácar Lake. It is situated inside the National Park Lanín.
The mountains which surround the lake are covered with lenga beech and rauli woods, at a height of 1000 masl.
The gravel beaches are situated in the left margin at a few miles from the city. In the cold waters you can practice different water sports and you can go on interesting outings to Hua Hum, a trip where you will admire the magnificence of the lake and the surrounding mountains, such as the Abanico, Gorro, Rodríguez, Trompudo, Bandurrias and Curruhuinca mounts.
Bandurrias Viewpoint
From this tourist attraction, situated at 800 masl, you will get a wonderful panoramic view of the city, the Chapelco Ski complex, the Lácar Lake, the mounts Abanico, Vizcacha and Sabana. You can climb to this viewpoint through a pedestrian path.
You can also get here by car through National Route 248 which leads to the International Pass Hua Hum and then through Provincial Route 234.
It is recommended to visit this place in spring, summer and fall, with your friends or your family. You will find unforgettable views, apart from the possibility of walking through Mapuche lands, getting in contact with native settlers. You will also get to a little white sand beach, with a natural island at a few meters.
Nature Reserve “Del Centenario”
This nature reserve was created with the aim to preserve the landscape environment packed with cypress trees.
There are games for children in the recreational area and an attractive viewpoint, getting a view of the Lácar Lake, the city and Bandurrias Mount, ideal to take pictures.
There is also an area with tables and benches.
Arrayán Viewpoint
From this viewpoint you will get a complete view of the city. In front of this place, you will find the Arrayán Tea House and Restaurant, where you may taste the delicious homemade bakery of the area during the evenings or the amazing local dishes at night.
Catritre Beach
Through national route 234, at 2.5 miles from San Martín de los Andes, on the right margin, you will find the access to this beach situated over the left border of Lácar Lake. This is an ideal place for the practice of water sports and it is ideal for camping, due to the beautiful and abundant vegetation. |

Ski |
The Chapleco Ski Resort, situated at 11 miles from the city, offers the visitors 490 acres of land suitable for skiing and 28 miles of ski runs with several grades of difficulty.
It counts with 12 ski lifts. The season starts in July and ends at the end of September. Its wide variety of ski runs turns this center into the ideal place for ski and snowboard fans. |

Fishing |
You can practice this sport in several lakes, brooks and rivers, where many species inhabit these waters. You will find salmon, brown trout, rainbow trout, silverside, etc.
The sport fishing season starts in November until April, although there are some areas open all the year. |

Horse Riding |
The horses advance deep among the hills to enjoy the calmness of the Steppe or the Mountain range. The horses used are trained to go through all types of grounds.
The trips are guided by local experts. During the trips, you will see hares, red foxes, deers and various species of birds: ducks, black-chested buzzard-eagles, condors, etc.
