Golf
You can practice golf in Bariloche from September to May, in a spectacular natural environment.

The golf activity starts with the first signs of our spring. In a heavenly environment, the golf players of all levels go to the excellent places where this sport is practiced.
During the season several tournaments take place, also for all the levels. The summer passes actively until well into fall, when the abundant rains force to stop the activity until the next spring.

Llao-Llao Hotel & Resort
An 18-hole golf course, at par with the best courts of the world due to its unique features. A course with undulating greens and fairways, excellent sown grass, surrounded by Lake Nahuel Huapi and centenary huge trees. With bunkers perfectly integrated, water hazards and greens, making up an interesting and harmonious whole. It offers the possibility of taking classes, participating in tournaments, renting clubs, caddies and a great handicap, all in absolute silence for your concentration.

The Club House offers, together with the marvelous environment, a pause for lunch with delicious beef sandwiches suggested by the Chef. In the afternoon it’s a privileged place to have tea served with delicious cakes and fruit preserves; and at night, ideal to spend a beautiful night with friends and taste a delicious fondue.

The Golf course is open all year long. In winter it is subject to the weather conditions.

Arelauquen Golf & Country Club
This attractive circuit is located at 15 minutes from the center of Bariloche, going by route 82. The country is located over the northwest shore of Lake Gutiérrez. It is crossed by Longochinoco stream, making up a central valley with a hairpin shape open to the lake. Immersed in a pure, mountainous setting, with crystal-clear water lakes, a unique vegetation and all the necessary high level infrastructure, Arelauquen Golf & Country Club offers its new golf course of 18 holes, totally redesigned according to the state-of-the-art techniques, with an automated irrigation system, with new and appropriate machineries, caddies service; in all, pointing to the excellence in all of the possible aspects.

Practicing golf in Arelauquen Golf & Country Club is an unforgettable experience. While playing, you can admire mounts Catedral and Otto summits, and the deep blue of Lake Gutierrez as a backdrop.

After the game, you can go and have a delicious snack in the “Bar de Golf” (Golf Bar) and watch the last advances in the Pro Shop. Cabaña del Golf (Golf Cabin)
It is the golf starter, called in this way because it recreates the environment of the traditional Andean cabins. While introducing in the circuit, it invites with its warmth to taste regional delicatessen, with stunning views, a bar-dining room with a fireplace and satellite TV, toilets, bagrooms and a golf buggy depot. It is open to all public and offers fast-food, delicious home-made cakes and fruit preserves for breakfast or at tea time, and also aperitifs. In summer, it is open every day from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm.

Proshop
For golf fans, Arelauquen has an exclusive shop which offers specific gear and clothing for the practice of this sport. Besides, you will find merchandising of the hotel.

Pinares Golf Club
In the way to Llao Llao, at 9 miles from Bariloche center, facing Lake Nahuel Huapi, Pinares Golf & Bungalows offers a 9-hole-course, 6 par three and 3 par four. You will enjoy the game in a circuit surrounded by woods.

Tourism in the area

Civic Center
This is one of the most traditional and representative spots of the city. It was declared a national conservation area; its buildings with a medieval style are situated around the picturesque and little square. There you will find: the Town Hall, the Municipal Secretary Office of Tourism, the local police station, the Museum of Patagonia and the Sarmiento Library.

The Civic Center was built by the old National Parks Office and inaugurated in 1934.

The rock that was used to build the Center, grey and with a touch of green, was extracted from Mount Carbón, located in what today is the south area of the Nahuel Huapi National Park.

Mitre Street
A must for the tourist, this street gathers multiple places of interest and entertainment. There are many shops that sell regional products and other shops that coexist along this main artery.

Local Crafts Fair
Fair and sale of local artisan’s products.
House of Mapuche Crafts (Casa de Artesanías Mapuche): works of the Mapuche knitted fabric cooperatives; the “Zuem” Mapuche operates here (which is the delegation of mapuche cooperatives).

Bariloche Andean Club (Club Andino Bariloche)
This prestigious mountain club was founded in 1931 by a group of pioneers, among them Dr. Juan Neumeyer, Eng. Emilio Frey, Otto Meilling.

Paleontology Museum (Museo Paleontológico)
It exhibits interesting samples of material from different geological periods, besides gigantic arachnids and other objects worth seeing.

Patagonia Museum (Museo de la Patagonia)

It is located in the Civic Center. It counts with several natural science, ethnography, prehistory, regional and local history showrooms. It also counts with a library and a book’s shop.

Victoria Island and Arrayanes Forest
The trip starts in Pañuelo Port, at 16 miles from the city, facing Llao Llao Village, where you can get by car or bus.
After a 40 minutes sailing through Lake Nahuel Huapi, you disembark on Port Anchorena, situated in the central area of the Island.

Port Blest and Los Cántaros Waterfall – Lake Frías
Leaving from Puerto Pañuelo and sailing through Lake Nahuel Huapi, when you enter into the Blest channel, you can see Centinela Island, the place where Perito Francisco P. Moreno, the creator of the National Parks, is buried.

Tronador by Mascardi Lake
By route 258, skirting round lakes Gutiérrez and Mascardi, you reach to the Mascardi Village quay.
The boat sails through the green and crystal-clear waters of Mascardi Lake up to the Tronador channel. You go to hotel Tronador to have lunch with a view of the mountain.

International crossing of Lakes
The crossing starts sailing through Lake Nahuel Huapi up to Puerto Blest in National Park Nahuel Huapi.
Then you go by 2 miles by bus up to Puerto Alegre and then sail through Lake Frías up to Puerto Frías where you will have to do the migration procedure and then go through customs.

Short Circuit
The beauty of the landscape is always present in this tour, hugging the south shore of the lake Nahuel Huapi, especially from the natural viewpoints of Bahía López or the Viewpoint, places where even the most experienced observer can feel simply small. Among the most outstanding attractions that this peculiar trip offers, it is worth mentioning the traditional Llao Llao hotel, Puerto Pañuelo, which is the most important port of Lake Nahuel Huapi and San Eduardo chapel; the surroundings give a stunning panoramic view of mounts Tronador and López. Besides, the chapel has in its interior a work of art by the famous painter Raúl Soldi.

At 10 miles from the center of Bariloche, mount Campanario is found, and you can climb it by a chairlift. From the viewpoint and the cafeteria which is located on the summit, you get an incredible general view of the area. There are many tea houses and restaurants that add flavor to the trip with tasty morsels that will delight your palate.

The short circuit, besides being a beautiful landscape, it offers: knitted material, candles and all types of handicrafts. Also the smooth paths of Llano Park give the possibility to walk around through the woods.

Mount Catedral
Mountain huts strategically located, ski schools, restaurants and cafeterias, hotels and a transport service that connects you with the city at any time make the largest ski resort of South America famous.

Seven Lakes (Siete Lagos)
By national route 237 going to the North, skirting round Nahuel Huapi Lake, you get to Villa La Angostura, from where the trip continues through the “Route of the Seven Lakes”. There you will admire the series of lakes: Espejo, Correntoso, Escondido, Villarino, Falkner and Machónico up to Lacar Lake, where the city San Martín de los Andres is situated.

Here you can visit the tourist development Chapelco, Quila Quina and Catrite beaches and the Arrayanes circuit from where you get a beautiful view of the lake and city.

The return is by Lake Meliquina, Cordoba pass and skirting round river Traful up to its confluence with river Limay, where Valle Encantado (Enchanted Valley) is situated.

Mount Tronador and Alerces Waterfall
At 22 miles to the south, through national route 258, after skirting round lakes Gutiérrez and Mascardi, to the west begins a road that takes you to the bridge over river Manso. Following the same road up to the base of mount Tronador and going through Pampa Linda, you get to the glacier viewpoint that gives birth to river Manso, known as the “Ventisquero Negro” (Black Snowdrift).

The Alerces waterfall is a variant of this trip. On the same latitude as the bridge over river Manso, you have to take the road that skirts round Lake Los Moscos up to Lake Hess.

Further on, the road for vehicles ends and a path starts to go on foot up to the viewpoint of the Alerces waterfall.

El Bolsón and Lake Puelo
Traveling to the south and after 80 miles, you get to the city of El Bolsón. The route, completely asphalted, borders lakes Gutiérrez, Mascardi and Guillermo, crosses rivers Villegas, Foyel and after the Quemquentreu enters the city.

On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays you can visit the craft fair and the small farms that produce fine fruits and jellies. The cheeses and craft beer are very famous.

At 4 miles, Cabeza de Indio and the viewpoint Río Azul offer a breathless vista of one of the most beautiful landscapes of the place.
From El Bolsón, you can visit National Park Lago Puelo and El Maitén station, from where "La Trochita" departs, an old steam train that now is a tourist relic.

Big Circuit
Going to the northeast, you skirt round Limay River up to the Anfiteatro (Amphitheater), Valle Encantado (enchanted valley) and after bordering rivers Traful, Cuyín Manzano and Minero, you get to the viewpoint of Lake Traful.

Further on, and bordering rivers Cuyín Manzano and Minero, and through the cohiue forest, you get to the viewpoint of Lake Traful, a steep of more than 70 meters height and then you get to Villa Traful.

Going on with the trip, you get to port Arrayán, the Portezuelo and return by the Road of the Seven Lakes and Villa La Angostura.

Mount Otto
In this mount, that is a few miles away from the city, the winter complex Piedras Blancas is located, as well as the ski runs of the Cross-country Ski Center, the Berghoff shelter and the Otto Meiling museum.

In its summit, you will find the famous Confitería Giratoria (revolving coffee shop), the only one in the country, and you can get there though a modern cableway.

Mount Leones
This majestic rocky bastion with caverns is located at only 9 miles from Bariloche. In its interior, a spring emerges, which forms a little pool.

In the interior of the mountain a spring emerges, which forms a little pool. There’s an enigma to discover inside the caverns, with cave paintings in its exterior and climbing up to the summit among rock bridges and footbridges.

Historic Steam Train
The boarding to the Patagonia Train is at the Railway Station of the city of San Carlos de Bariloche. Traveling along with Lake Nahuel Huapi, it crosses the bridge that passes river Ñirihuau, where it stops so as to take pictures of a fantastic and unique steppe landscape.

Mount Viejo
Over the slope of mount Runge, located at a short distance from the center of the city, there is an interesting viewpoint which you can access through a comfortable cableway.

You can descend by a typical mountain path enjoying a nice walk, interpreting the native flora, which finishes in the centenary Arrayanes Forest.

Piedras Blancas (White Rocks)
The winter complex Piedras Blancas is located over the south hillside of Mount Otto, at a few miles from the city center. This typical mountain enclave offers the visitors different possibilities for fun and amusement. Among other activities, you can use sleds in the enabled runs to that end, ride in snowmobile or directly climb up to the shelter and enjoy a comforting hot milk with pieces of chocolate with a slice of a homemade cake.

Cross-country Ski Center
In Mount Otto and at a few meters from Piedras Blancas, the Cross-country Ski Center is located, a place with runs especially designed for the practice of cross-country skiing. The rides in snowmobile are part of the tourist offer that this place offers.

Neumeyer Shelter
At 10 miles from the city and after traveling through the Chall Huaco valley you get to the Neumeyer Shelter, located at 1,200 m above sea level. From there on you can go for a walk with snowshoes that goes from the shelter to pool Verde or to a spectacular viewpoint located at the top of the Valley. You can also practice ski touring and sleighs.

Fishing

National Park Nahuel Huapi has an important basin of lakes and rivers, with easy-access coasts and especially suitable for the reproduction and diffusion of fish species of great sport value.

Among the most abundant species, the Rainbow Trout is placed before and after the rapids looking in general for fast and crystal-clear waters, while the Brown Trout is found in almost every river and lakes of the area.
The Brook Trout, the Trout Perch (Trucha Criolla), the Landlocked Salmon will one day turn into a target for sport fishing, free or programmed, under the techniques of: spinning, fly casting and trolling. Obviously, the most difficult technique is fly casting, which offers the best prospects to the fish and requires the maximum skill of the fly-fisherman.

Horse Riding
The horses advance deep among the hills to enjoy the calmness of the Steppe or the Mountain range. The horses used are trained to go through all types of grounds.
The trips are guided by local experts. During the trips, you will see hares, red foxes, deers and various species of birds: ducks, black-chested buzzard-eagles, condors, etc.
For this kind of activity you can opt between trips of half or full day.

4x4 Trips

It’s about trips in modern and resistant double drive vehicles by gravel and mountain roads. Among other places, you visit Mount López and Lake Steffen.

Mount López:
Before climbing the mount, you ride 27 miles passing Balcón del Moreno and the historic Colonia Suiza (Swiss Colony). The last miles belong to the climbing itself, among aged coihues and lengas trees. At 1500 masl, you descend from the vehicle to start the long walk to the Shelter, located at 1650 masl among great panoramic views. For the ones who want to continue with the walk, still in summer, you can get to the snow covered spots.
