Snow &
Ski |
Thanks to the wide variety
of landscapes that Bariloche offers,
the winter season allows choosing among
games in the snow, alpine skiing, ski
touring, ridings in snow cats, ridings
in sleighs, snowboarding, paragliding,
etc.; and other activities such as trekking
and horse rides in the low areas of
the region. Mount
Catedral
The area of Mount Catedral has as the
main attraction the Mountain Sports
Dr. Antonio Lynch, located in the beautiful
region of National Park Nahuel Huapi,
adjacent to the municipal common land
of San Carlos de Bariloche.
It is located at 1075 miles from Capital
Federal by paved route or two hours
flight. The international airport of
Bariloche is at 10 miles from the city
and at 19 miles from the ski resort.
The maximum height of the mount is 2,388
meters above sea level, 1483 acres of
hillsides suitable for skiing with more
than 64 miles of ski runs for all the
levels.
This winter sports centre is undergoing
a full process of modernization, incorporating
in each season new infrastructure. It
has state-of-the-art ski lifts: the
chair lift for six persons with bubble
gives high comfort and climatic protection,
making it possible to use it any time.
Apart from this, now it is possible
to make snow. This incredible innovation
makes it possible to have a layer of
snow in the main areas of the mountain,
even when the snowfalls are not abundant.
Highly sophisticated equipments supply
snow and guarantee the practice of ski,
especially in the areas for beginners
that can not venture to more difficult
ski runs.
In this sense, there have been advances
to count with a minimum layer of snow
in the Catalina Reynal Square, in the
base of the mountain, in the place where
the ski and snowboard schools are, the
shops to rent equipments, restaurants,
mountain huts and the big shopping mall;
all situated next to the departure stations
of the ski lifts.
Mount Catedral, in close relation with
the winter sports, is a permanent venue
of very important sport, social and
cultural events, among them international
ski and snowboard competitions, included
in the calendar of the International
Ski Federation. Other annual event is
the opening season ceremony and the
making of other different ceremonies
of the Snow National Festival.
There are varied entertaining activities
such as the casino, slot machines for
children, music festivals and shows
for example polo and snow voleyball.
Among other options, several mountainous
spaces add up new ways of amusement,
for example driving a fourtrax, trekking
through the snow-covered paths, sliding
through sleds or practicing paragliding
or snowboard. Piedras
Blancas (White Rocks)
The winter complex Piedras Blancas is
located over the south hillside of Mount
Otto, at a few miles from the city center.
This typical mountain enclave offers
the visitors different possibilities
for fun and amusement. Among other activities,
you can use sleds in the enabled runs
to that end, ride in snowmobile or directly
climb up to the shelter and enjoy a
comforting hot milk with pieces of chocolate
with a slice of a homemade cake.
Cross-country
Ski Center
In Mount Otto and at a few meters from
Piedras Blancas, the Cross-country Ski
Center is located, a place with runs
especially designed for the practice
of cross-country skiing. The rides in
snowmobile are part of the tourist offer
that this place offers. Neumeyer
Shelter
At 10 miles from the city and after
traveling through the Chall Huaco valley
you get to the Neumeyer Shelter, located
at 1,200 m above sea level. From there
on you can go for a walk with snowshoes
that goes from the shelter to pool Verde
or to a spectacular viewpoint located
at the top of the Valley. You can also
practice ski touring and sleighs.

The greens, according to the new trends,
are slightly uneven, with various flag
positions and tees that make up a course
suitable for the organization of important
tournaments at an international level.
Golf Cross
This is a new activity that is growing
stronger among the amateur golf players.
A precision and challenging sport in
a stunning environment. In the course,

players that will try to dominate it.
The traditional greens have given way
to the marked areas that are part of
the course and where the clubs will
make this new trend of the sport more
dynamic. An ideal sport to enjoy with
the family. And what it stands out is
that its practice does not depend on
the weather. Even with a snow-covered
course, you will make your dream of
being an excellent golfer come true;
even if you see that the ball is oval...

The Brook Trout, the Trout Perch (Trucha

one day turn into a target for sport
fishing, free or programmed, under the
techniques of: spinning, fly casting
and trolling. Obviously, the most difficult
technique is fly casting, which offers
